A revision of the Australian beetle genera Bolboleaus Howden & Cooper, Blackbolbus Howden & Cooper, and Bolborhachium Boucomont (Scarabaeidae : Geotrupinae)

Abstract

The species in three genera of Australian Geotrupinae all belonging to the tribe Bolboceratini are described, keyed, and illustrated. In Bolboleaus Howden & Cooper, 14 species are recognized with six new species named as follows: hiaticollis, houstoni, mirnus, yarvicollis, propinquus, and storeyi. In Blackbolbus Howden & Cooper, 28 species are recognized with 19 new species named as follows: augustus, brittoni, carnabyorum, echinicollis, falcatus, fucinus, furcaticoNis, hollowayorum, incertus, inopinus, insolitus, kalbarriensis, lunatus, matthewsi, mult.ijidus, quinquecavus, rostratus, rugosicollis and yunaensis. In Bolborhachium Boucomont, 25 species are recognized with 12 new species named as follows: anneae, concavum, deceptum, edithae, hollowayi, inclinatum, keithi, kevini, nanum, pastinum, prochelyum and scopulum. The larvae of two species of Australian Geotrupinae, Bolborhachium recticorne Guérin, and B. anneae, sp. nov., are described. These are the first larvae described in the subfamily for Australia.
