Abstract

The ectoparasite community on snapper, C. auratus (Bloch & Schneider), is described from localities in eastern and southern Australia and in New Zealand. New species of Monogenea are Choricotyle australiensis and Anoplodiscus cirrusspiralis. Lamellodiscus pagrosomi Murray, 1931 and Bivagina pagrosomi Murray, 193 1 are redescribed and new hosts and geographical locations are recorded. A new geographical location is recorded for Encotyllabe pagrosomi MacCallum, 1917, and new host and geographical location for Benedenia sekii (Yamaguti, 1937) Meserve, 1938. New species of Copepoda are Unicolax chrysophryenus, Pseudoeucanthus australiensis and Caligus sclerotinosus. New hosts and geographical locations are recorded for Lepeophtheirus sekii Yamaguti, 1936a, Hatschekia pagrosomi Yamaguti, 1939a and Clavellopsis sargi (Kurz, 1877) Wilson, 1915. New hosts are recorded for Lernanthropus atrox Heller, 1865 and Caligus willungae Kabata, 1965. One male specimen and one female specimen of Caligus are described but left unnamed as is one male specimen of Lepeophtheirus. The isopod Nerocila monodi and praniza larvae are recorded. The site specificity of the ectoparasites is determined.
