A taxonomic revision of the panesthiinae of the world. IV.* The genus Ancaudellia Shaw, with additions to parts 1–3, and a general discussion of distribution and relationships of the components of the subfamily (Dictyopter : Blattaria : Blaberidae)

Abstract

The genus Ancaudellia contains 18 species (11 new) and four subspecies (one new). The largest number of species of Ancaudellia are found on New Guinea (Irian Jaya and Papua New Guinea) and neighboring islands. The genus is not found on the Asian mainland and is absent from most of the Sunda Is. One subspecies, A. serratissima dissulcata occurs on Samoa, the farthest eastern record for a panesthiine. New Guinea may have been the original homeland of the genus; here, several species occur which are difficult to place because they appear to be transitional forms and mix generic characters.
