The Australian Scatopsidae (Diptera)*

Abstract

A large collection of Scatopsidae from all parts of Australia contains 57 species or subspecies, representing 11 genera, 53 species or subspecies, two genera, and one subgenus are new. The tribe Scatopsini in the Scatopsinae is represented by Scatopse (one species), Reichertella (three species), Colobostema (19 species), and Hawomersleya gen nov. (one species); the Rhegmoclematini by Rhegmoclema (13 species), Austroclemina subgen. nov. (three species), and Diamphidicus gen. nov. (one species); the Swammerdamellini by Swammerdamella (seven species) and Rhexoza (two species). The Psectrosciarinae are represented by Psectrosciara (five species) and Anapausis (two species).
