Abstract
The concept of Primary Profile Forms as developed by Northcote has been applied to New Zealand soils. It has been found that four additional Primary Profile Forms are widespread in New Zealand. The term Texture Profile Form is proposed, because it is more informative and is more likely to be accepted outside Australia than Primary Profile Form. The criteria for identification of these in the field are outlined. Explanations are given for the origin of the proposed Texture Profile Forms of New Zealand.https://doi.org/10.1071/SR9810097
