Abstract
Many potential cyclists do not cycle on the road because of safety concerns. Drivers' knowledge of road rules and attitudes towards cyclists on the road were assessed. A telephone survey of 105 randomly selected adults in Sydney, Australia, with a current driver's licence was conducted. Less than half the sample (43%) was aware of recent changes to the Australian road rules. The majority of respondents (76%) reported high perceptions of danger associated with cycling, although respondents who had recently cycled on the road were significantly less likely to report these concerns of danger.https://doi.org/10.1071/PY02029
