Abstract
A brief review of the technique of angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy as used in conjunction with synchrotron radiation is given. Examples of the use of the technique which emphasise the collection of full-hemisphere data are presented, covering the determination of Fermi surface topology and photoelectron diffraction/holography. An example of an investigation of quantum size effects and of the use of magnetic circular dichroism to explore the interaction of spin-orbit and exchange effects in iron is also provided.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH950217
