Abstract
We have analysed the inverse problem for self-induced transparency with degenerate energy levels (DSIl) via the Riemann-Hilbert methodology with second order poles. The required formulae are deduced in detail and the corresponding soliton solutions are obtained. It is noticed that the profile of the single soliton is not of the usual sech type.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH880735
