Abstract
A method is described for presenting two-dimensional intensity calculations as halftone pictures on a high-resolution storage oscilloscope with the aid of a laboratory computer. Intensity calculations performed usually on medium or large computers are quantized to seven grey levels and translated economically into ASCII code for convenient transmission by line or storage on punched paper tape which is the input medium for the laboratory computer. The method is applied particularly to periodic pictures for which the unit cell need only be encoded once. Routine photographic procedures are described with several illustrations.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH740073
