Abstract
The attenuation of longitudinal electron oscillations in a dilute plasma is evaluated from the Krook approximation to the Boltzmann equation. The predictions of this model are compared with those of various other collision models. In the limit of "few collisions" there is complete qualitative agreement. However, the quantitative agreement among contributions beyond those due to dynamical friction is poor.https://doi.org/10.1071/PH690453
