Regular Variations In The Scintillations Of Radio Sources With Season, Time Of Day, And Solar Distance

Australian Journal of Physics 19(3) 427 - 440
Published: 1966

Abstract

The fluctuations of eight sources observed in transit at Fleurs, near Sydney, at a frequency of 85 Mcts in the period 1955-59 are analysed for systematic variations with time and with angular distance from the zenith and from the Sun. The observations cover a wide range of zenith angles. The only significant systematic variation is found to be a diurnal effect, with maxima near noon and midnight and minima near dawn and dusk.
