Abstract
Between 1999 and 2003, about 20 per cent of mothers were born in non-English speaking countries (Table 54). The percentage of mothers born in Southern European declined slightly from 1.6 to 1.2 per cent, and the percentage of mothers born in Middle Eastern and African countries rose slightly from 4.2 to 4.6 per cent over the five-year period. The percentage of mothers in other groups remained stable.https://doi.org/10.1071/NB04S63
