Abstract
Alcohol affects health in a number of ways, including: acute physical effect, such as intoxication and alcohol overdose; chronic physical effects, such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, brain damage and memory loss; and the effects of alcohol consumption on the health of others, such as road trauma caused by drink-driving and alcohol-related violence.
