Feeding of the Female Breeder by Male Helpers in the Bell Miner Manorina melanophrys

Abstract

Observations of Bell Miner Manorina melanophrys female breeders being fed by one or more nest attendants while the former were incubating or brooding are reported. This behaviour might be the result of some male helpers trying to establish a mating relationship with the breeding female.
