The birds of Mt. Wellington Range, Tasmania

Abstract

The avifauna of the Mt Wellington Range, Tasmania, was observed at elevations above 240 metres during the period 1 October 1975 to 31 January 1976. A total of sixty-two species was recorded and for each observation note was taken of the habitat in which the sighting occurred, the basis for this being a previously published survey of the vegetation. Use of computer-assisted classification procedures enabled both species and vegetation zones to be clustered into groups having the greatest similarity.
