Field notes on the birds of Amazon Bay, Papua

Abstract

Field notes are given of birds recorded during a short visit to Amazon Bay, south-eastern Papua. Significant records are the first occurrence in Australian New Guinea of Calidris ferruginea, extension of range of Dacelo leachii, Saxicola caprata and Myzomela obscura, and the breeding of Ptilinopus iozonus. A small series of specimens was collected.
