Abstract
Factors involved in the choice of caves as roosting or nesting sites are discussed. Those birds which enter the dark zone of caves have been shown in some cases to orient themselves by echo-location, and it is suggested that this occurs in the Australian Swiftlet, Collocalia francica. Observations of Australian species roosting or nesting in caves are listed.https://doi.org/10.1071/MU965152
