Abstract
During March, ICA ACT Inc. - in association with the Australian Society for Microbiology ACT branch, The Canberra Hospital (TCH) Infectious Diseases/Infection Control Unit and the ACT Department of Health Communicable Diseases Control - hosted the Inaugural Seminar in Infectious Diseases and Public Health. The topic for the first seminar was meningococcal disease and over 90 people attended.Guest speakers were Associate Professor Rosemary Munro, Director of Microbiology, Liverpool Hospital and Mahomed Patel, Fellow, National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, Australian National University (ANU). Four members of ICA ACT - Ashley Watson, Peter Collignon, Andrew Gordon and Elaine Graham - spoke at the seminar. It was nice to see Gabby Robathan, editor of Australian Infection Control, in the audience. Gabby was in the ACT during March not so much hot on the trail of journal articles as a student, for a month, on the master's epidemiology course at ANU.https://doi.org/10.1071/HI98227
