Abstract
The opportunity to visit twelve hospitals widely spread throughout Canada, the USA and the UK in late 1993 and early 1994 gave me a broad perspective on Infection Control in these countries. Working as I did in a 126 bed private hospital, I organised visits to a range of healthcare establishments to observe current practices in the surveillance and prevention of hospital acquired infections. Particular attention was given to methods and equipment used to promote a needle-safe and/or a needle free environment.https://doi.org/10.1071/HI96521
