Abstract

Wound infections following caesarean section are but one complication of this procedure. In this survey there has been no attempt to ascertain the frequency of other post partum infectious diseases or other morbidity (or mortality). Thus the presence or absence of urinary tract infection, endometritis, deep pelvic infections or septicaemias have not been taken into account in this survey. This study was undertaken to determine the underlying wound infection rate and to attempt to identify some contributing factors.
