Abstract

There is a strong association between the use of antibiotics and the emergence of hospital-acquired antibiotic resistant bacteria. It is therefore important that hospitals have sound systems for the prescription and delivery of these drugs. This involves a combination of guidelines, restrictions and resistance monitoring.
