Abstract

The Kalkaroo mineralisation is located 100 km westnorthwest of Broken Hill. It was discovered in 1992, by reconnaissance drilling of high-amplitude linear magnetic anomalies, northeast of the Waukaloo Mine. Since its discovery, several phases of exploration, including geophysical techniques, have been undertaken over the prospect by a number of companies. The geophysical work includes magnetics, IP/resistivity, moving-loop TEM, MT and gravity. The results of this work have shown that at Kalkaroo, chargeability mapping is the most effective method of detecting mineralisation directly, and that the combined use of magnetics, gravity and electrical methods provide complementary datasets useful for stratigraphic mapping.
