Abstract

In this paper, we present a magnetotelluric (MT) modelling and inversion method for geophysical exploration using the Global Integral Local Differential (GILD) algorithm. We first describe GILD electromagnetic modelling and inversion algorithm and then apply it to interpret MT data from the Chi-Chi earthquake source area in Taiwan. In the resistivity image computed from the GILD algorithm, the Chelungpu (CLP) fault and the associated structures appear more clearly than those of the previous 1-D results.
