Abstract

The northern part of the New England Orogen is now regarded as a double orocline?the rocks being folded into a large 'Z' shape by two regional-scale synclines. The oroclines are partly covered in the New England area by Late Permian to Early Triassic igneous rocks, and covered in the north and west by sediments of the Surat and Clarence-Moreton Basins. We use gravity and magnetic anomalies to map the oroclines beneath this cover.
