Abstract

An interest in the use of the IP method for oil exploration is growing gradually in recent years. But its effectiveness for oil exploration still remains to be solved. To make the cause of the anomaly (Ms, Ps) and its relation to the oil reservoir clear is the key problem. Since 1982, we have carried out IP research at more than 20 oil fields in the east, north, north-west and south-west of China. The results show that an IP anomaly over each of these oil fields exists. Many of them are obvious (Fig. 1). The correlation between the anomaly and the reservoir can be explained.
