The use of IP in mapping alteration and related Au?Ag mineralization in the Drake mineral field, NSW

Abstract

The Drake mineral field, which is located in far north-eastern NSW (Fig. 1), encompasses both a number of gold lodes in which near surface oxidized ores were mined during the 1800s and early-mid 1900s, and several more extensive zones of gold?silver mineralization which have been outlined during extensive drilling by joint venture comprising Mt Carrington Mines and Aberfoyle Exploration. The most significant ore-deposits are Lady Hampden, Silver King and White Rock (Fig. 1) and collectively these account for an aggregate opencut and/or shallow-underground resource of around 3.3 million tonnes of 105 g/t Ag and 0.5 g/t Au. During 1984 a re-interpretation of old geophysical data from the mineral field resulted in a number of significant findings. These are the subject of this paper.
