Abstract

The I-type and S-type granitoids of New England, NSW, generally equate to the magnetite-series and ilmenite-series classification. The only non-conforming suite is the Uralla I-type suite which is non-magnetic, but these granitoids also exhibit several abnormal geochemical parameters. The Triassic leuco-adamellites are also non-magnetic, but exhibit magnetic aureoles. Limited remanence measurements are available. Samples of two late-Triassic plutons show strong remanence, indicating allowance will have to be made for such effects in quantitative analysis of magnetic data.
