Determination of velocity?depth distributions by inversion of refraction time?distance data

Abstract

Determination of velocity-depth distributions from discrete time-distance data is readily accomplished by solution of the WHB integral equations using spline functions and numerical integration. lnversion of synthetic data corresponding to an analytic velocity-depth distribution, and of real curvilinear time-distance data from a known section, attests to the accuracy of the inversion procedure.
