Abstract
A survey was conducted in the main stone fruit producing areas of Cyprus during 2004–05 in order to determine the identity and distribution of Plum pox virus strains using serological and molecular methods. A total of 72 peach, apricot and plum tree samples were analysed by ELISA and RT-PCR and results showed that PPV-M was the predominant strain, while PPV-D was identified for the first time in the island.
