The comparative ecology of Australian corvids. I. Introduction, study areas, and methods of study

Abstract

Five species of Corvus are found in Australia. At one time or another these omnivores impinge on agriculture in the role of pest, scavenger, or eater of injurious insects. To evaluate their true role, the ecology of these superficially very similar species was studied between 1961 and 1969. This paper introduces a series of five papers on the comparative ecology of the Australian corvids; it describes the areas where the work was done and the methods used.
