Diagram of coating a catheter surface with a dopamine-modified hyaluronic acid and Pluronic F127 lubricant.

Laryngeal injury and subsequent chronic complications can result from the friction between the mucosa and the tube during intubation. Here we present a lubricant coating based on hyaluronic acid. The HD-F127 coatings have great potential in biomedical devices that require lubrication, due to their simple fabrication method and excellent lubrication properties. (Image credit: Wu Chenggang.)
