Pigments of Fungi. LXII. (1S,3R)-Austrocortirubin: Isolation from the Fungus Dermocybe splendida and Synthesis from (S)-Citramalic Acid

Abstract

(1S,3R)-Austrocortirubin (3), a new naturally occurring red tetrahydroanthraquinone, is isolated from the ethanol extract of the fungus Dermocybe splendida and its structure and stereochemistry are deduced by spectroscopic and chemical methods and are confirmed by synthesis from (S)-citramalic acid (10).
