Five New Fully Substituted Depsides From the Lichen Pseudocyphellaria pickeringii

Abstract

The new depsides 2'- O- methylphenarctin (6), 1'-chloronephroarctin (7), 2'- O- methylpseudo-cyphellarin A (3), isopseudocyphellarin A (8) and 2'- O- methylisopseudocyphellarin A (9), have been isolated from New Zealand collections of the lichen Pseudocyphellaria pickeringii . The structures of the new metabolites were initially deduced from an analysis of mass spectral and ¹H n.m.r. data and subsequently confirmed by unambiguous syntheses.
