Abstract
X-ray crystallography has been used to confirm that the structure of crystalline limonene tetrabromide, derived from (+)-limonene, has the 8R configuration and is therefore (1S,2S,4R,8R)-1,2,8,9-tetrabromo-p- methane. By using the same method, racemic limonene dibromodichloride [1RS,2RS,4SR,8SR)-8,9-dibromo-1,2-dichloro-p-methane] has been shown to have the same configuration.
