Abstract

1-Acetyl-3,t-5-dichloro-t-2,4-dimethyl-2,5-dinitrocyclopent-3-en-r-1-ol (11) rearranges in acetone to give the C6-epimeric dinitrocyclohex-3-enone (13), the structure of which was determined by X-ray crystal analysis. The base-catalysed rearrangement of cyclohex-3-enone (13) is discussed.
