Phosphorus-31 and cadmium-113 N.M.R. studies of cadmium(II) complexes with some tertiary phosphines

Abstract

Phosphorus-31 and cadmium-113 n.m.r, techniques have been used to investigate the formation, in solution, of some cadmium(I) complexes CdA₂(phos)_n [where A = ClO₄^-, NO₃^-, CH₃COO^-, Cl^-, Br-, I^- and phos = PBu₃, P(C₆H₁₁)₃]. The effective coordination number of the cadmium atom is dependent on the nature of the phosphine and of the anion A and ranges from two to five in dichloromethane solution.
