Temperature dependence of apparent molar volumes of electrolytes related to water compressibility

Abstract

Ellis's published information on the limiting apparent molar volumes of 17 electrolytes in water is here shown in most cases to be a closely linear function of the solvent's isothermal compressibilityfrom 75°C to 200ºC, with different slopes for the 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 electrolytes.
