Diorganotin(IV) derivatives of monothio β-diketones

Abstract

Diorganotin(IV) derivatives of monothio β-diketones of the general formula R₂Sn(R'CSCHCOR')₂ (R = Me, Bu, Ph; R' = Ph, Me; R'' = Ph, p-FC₆H₄, 2-F,4-OMeC₆H₃) have been synthesized by the reactions of R₂SnCl₂ or R₂SnO with monothio β-diketones. Complexes of the type, SnX₂(R'CSCHCOR')₂ (X = Cl, Br, OAc), have also been synthesized. These compounds have been characterized by element analyses as well as by i.r., ¹H n.m.r., and Mossbauer spectra. Ebullioscopic molecular weight determinations show them to be monomeric in benzene.
