Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound, trans- [Co(C2N2H8)2(NH3)(SO3)] ClO4, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods at 295(1)K and refined by least squares to a residual of 0.061 for 2989 'observed' reflections. Crystals are monoclinic, P21/n, a 6.863(3), b 14.713(6), c 13.279(8) Ǻ, β 104.45(4)°, Z 4. Whereas the Co-S bond has the common value of 2.227(2) Ǻ, Co-N is remarkably long, being 2.070(3) Ǻ, this being ascribed to a structural trans effect.
