Stereochemical studies. VII. Synthesis and deamination of stereoisomeric 2-Aminodecahydronaphthalen-1-ols

Abstract

When treated with nitrous acid, the trans-fused amino alcohol (3) undergoes 'normal' stereospecific deamination to give the trans-fused octahydroindene-1-carbaldehyde (20) in contrast with the reported 'abnormal' behaviour of the related amino sterol (1).
