Halogenated Terpenoids. XVI. The Tetrabromides of γ-Terpinene

Abstract

Four tetrabromo compounds, (1RS,6RS,8RS)-1,6,8,9-tetrabromo-p-menth-3-ene (3), its (8SR) isomer (6), (1RS,2RS,4SR,SRS)-l,2,4,5-tetrabrorno-p-menthane (10), and (1RS,2RS,4RS,5SR)- 1,2,5,8-tetrabromo-p-menthane (7) together with the dibromide (1RS,6RS)-1,6-dibromo-p-menth- 3-ene (11), are obtained from the bromination of γ-terpinene.
