A redetermination of the crystal structure of 'Thorium(IV) Tetrakis(trifluoroacetylacetonate)': Stereochemistry of the system [M(bidentate ligand)₄(unidentate ligand)^x±

Abstract

The structure of '[Th(CF₃COCHCOCH₃)₄]' has been redetermined from diffractometer data and shown to be [Th(CF₃COCHCOCH₃)₄(H₂O)]. The stereochemistry is in agreement with that determined for the [M(bidentate ligand)₄(unidentate ligand)]^x± system by a calculation based on a repulsion model.
