Potential wool growth inhibitors. Synthesis of DL-α-Amino-β-(5-hydroxy-4-oxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl)propionic acid, a pyrimidine analogue of mimosine

Abstract

The synthesis of DL-α-amino-β-(5-hydroxy-4-oxo-3,4-dihydropyriidin-2-y)proponc acid (3), a pyrimidine analogue of mimosine, is described. The overall yield in four steps from aliphatic pre-cursors is 25%.
