A binuclear rhodium(III) dithiocarbamate complex, [Rh₂(Me₂NCS₂)₅] BF₄

Abstract

Attempts to prepare the reported rhodium(1V) dithiocarbamate complex [Rh(Me₂NCS₂)₃] BF₄ have yielded instead a new binuclear rhodium(111) cation, [Rh₂(Me₂NCS₂)₅]⁺, which has been characterized by chemical, spectroscopic and X-ray structural techniques. The relationshipbetween the recently reported structural types for [M₂(R₂NCS₂)₅]* species is discussed.
