Enthalpies of mixing of dimethyl sulphide + carbon tetrachloride and dimethyl sulphide + chloroform

Abstract

Enthalpies of mixing at 278.15 K, 288.15 K and 298.15 K are reported for mixtures of dimethyl sulphide + carbon tetrachloride and dimethyl sulphide + chloroform. The enthalpies of mixing for both systems are negative. At T = 298.15 K, x = 0.5 the enthalpy of mixing of the carbon tetrachloride mixture is approximately -450 J mol^-1 and for the chloroform mixture it is approximately -1350 J mol^-1. For both systems the temperature coefficients are small and positive.
