Chemical Examination of Local Plants. XIV. Triterpenoids From the Leaves of Egyptian Callistemon lanceolatus

Abstract

The light petroleum extract of the leaves of Callistemon lanceolatus yielded ursolic and oleanolic acid together with uvaol, while the ether extract afforded 2α-hydroxyursolic acid and a new triterpenetriol identified as 2α-hydroxyuvaol. The methanol extract contained glucose and sucrose and a mixture of saponins, acid hydrolysis of which yielded 2α-hydroxyursolic acid and 2α-hydroxyuvaol as aglycones.
