Abstract
Ferrous-ion-catalysed reactions of five oxaziridines are described. The mono-cyclic oxaziridines (1) and (2) were converted into N-t- butylformamide and N-t-butyl-acetamide respectively. The bicyclic oxaziridines (3) and (12) both afforded the pyrrolidin-2-one (5) and the bicyclic oxaziridine (4) yielded the pyrrolidin-2-one (6) together with other products. Also, the bicyclic oxaziridines (13)-(15) have been found to undergo deoxygenation to afford the corresponding 1- pyrrolines, on treatment with a molar equivalent of ferrous sulphate.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9732515
