Abstract
Reaction of the potentially bidentate ligand bis(diphenylarsino)methane (dam) with W(CO)4(NO)X yields the complexes mer-W(CO)3(NO)(dam)X and cis-W(CO)2(NO)(dam)2X in which the arsine ligand is monodentate, and the novel complex [W(CO)2(NO)X]2(dam), which is believed to contain both dam and halide bridges. However, bis(diphenylphosphino)methane(dpm) forms cis- W(CO)2(NO)(dpm)X and W(CO)(NO)(dpm)2X. The latter complex contains both monodentate and bidentate dpm. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy have proved valuable in the elucidation of the structures and properties of these compounds.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9731493
