Abstract
Conductivities of fused PbBr2+KBr mixtures, containing up to c. 90 mole % KBr, have been determined as a function of temperature. The data are represented well by quadratic functions of temperature, and the best- fit parameters of the quadratic functions are reported for each mixture. The conductivity data vary isothermally with composition in a different manner than do the literature data for this system. However, the isotherms are very similar to these obtained previously for PbCl2 + KCl mixtures. Interpretations of physicochemical properties of PbBr2+KBr mixtures are reviewed briefly, and a close parallel between structural models applicable to PbBr2 + KBr and PbCl2 + KCl melts containing up to 50 mole % KBr or KCl is suggested.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9730733
