Reaction of Cholesta-2,4-dien-6-one with hydrazoic acid

Abstract

Reaction of cholesta-2,4-dien-6-one (1) with hydrazoic acid gave cholest-4-ene-3,6-dione (2), 6-aza-B-homocholest-2,4-dien-7-one (3), and 6-aza-B-homocholest-4-ene-3,7-dione (4). The structures of these compounds have been established by their spectral properties and comparison with available authentic samples. It is shown that neither (2) nor (3) is the precursor of (4).
